{"id":542,"date":"2009-07-08T10:47:24","date_gmt":"2009-07-08T16:47:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/m.ammoth.us\/blog\/?p=542"},"modified":"2009-07-08T14:29:48","modified_gmt":"2009-07-08T20:29:48","slug":"the-peoples-public-workshop","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/m.ammoth.us\/blog\/2009\/07\/the-peoples-public-workshop\/","title":{"rendered":"the people&#8217;s public works"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sfgate.com\/cgi-bin\/article.cgi?f=\/c\/a\/2009\/07\/07\/MNCG18HIGB.DTL\">Here&#8217;s<\/a> one such strategy for applying architectural tactics to a <a href=\"http:\/\/m.ammoth.us\/blog\/2009\/07\/my-dreams-squashed\/\">much broader set of situations and materials<\/a>, Stephen, from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rebargroup.org\/\">Rebar<\/a> (who are perhaps the best current example of a group doing such things, at least that I&#8217;m aware of):<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"525\" height=\"397\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-543\" title=\"rebar-lot\" src=\"http:\/\/m.ammoth.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/rebar-lot.jpg\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"http:\/\/m.ammoth.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/rebar-lot.jpg 525w, http:\/\/m.ammoth.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/rebar-lot-300x226.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 525px) 100vw, 525px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The project, entitled &#8220;The People&#8217;s Public Works&#8221;, &#8220;[lures] the public into a carnival midway with infrastructure as the theme&#8221; and is sited in the excavated bowels of a block awaiting the arrival of a new skyscraper, perhaps delayed or halted by lack of financing.  &#8220;The pit would offer an array of ad hoc nooks where people could explore the nuts and bolts of city building.
